About Colleen

I am an active mom of (now) three surviving life in the Fairfield County burbs. I lived in NYC for over 12 years, and spent my last six living in DUMBO, Brooklyn. My husband and I experienced the ups and downs of juggling 2 little ones (and all the gear that comes with them) in the city. We have a lot of amazing memories, and will forever cherish them and the friends we made there.

When my oldest was around 4 1/2 years old, we decided it was time to made the trek out to Connecticut. It’s been an adventure living here, and was a challenge at times during our transition. However, now a year and half into it, I couldn’t imagine any other place to raise my kids.

And it’s not just about the kids either, my husband and I have really made a wonderful life together in our new town. We are now homeowners and a two car family. Our third was born New Year’s Eve, and we’re experiencing life with a baby for the first time in the burbs. We have also made some pretty cool friends here, and are having a lot of fun in our winetaster’s group this year.

We still love all that NYC has to offer, and continue to go back to visit friends in Brooklyn as often as possible. We’ll always heart you, Brooklyn. But for now our home is here in the CT burbs. Thanks for following my journey. Happy reading.

This is the first time reading your blog, and only read a bit so far. Didn’t realize your coming to CT was so close! Actually it’s today right? Coincidence that it happens to be someone’s special day too 😉
Happy B-Day Brian!! A busy one I imagine. Hopefully I’ll remember to log in to FB later and post something memorable there. But you know me and FB…
Good luck with the move and welcome (back) to CT 😀

  4. Hi Colleen! I’m a former Brooklynite who’s been out in Darien for a few years now. My contact info is below if you want to get in touch. Welcome to town!

    Hi Colleen,

I stumbled upon your site through an NYU Alum page on LinkedIn.

I enjoyed reading your story 🙂 What’s funny is, although I have a job in the concrete corporate jungle and a Master’s degree from NYU, I’ve always secretly aspired to be a stay at home mom. I’m betting most professional women don’t have that dream and become SAHM’s inadvertently!

Best of luck on your move to CT.
